The Art of Surrender

Born from the royal rituals of ancient Ceylon

Nestled in the heart of the Indian Ocean lies Ceylon — a tropical island long celebrated as an exotic paradise of rare natural beauty. Woven into the very fabric of the island's culture are ancient rituals of relaxation, rejuvenation, and healing, rooted in Ayurveda: the 5,000-year-old science of life.

Under the patronage of royalty, Ayurveda became the foundation of magnificent wellness rituals performed in the palaces of ancient Ceylon. From these regal ceremonies and the holistic Ayurvedic approach emerged the precious natural formulas that define Spa Ceylon today — crafted to purify, hydrate, and bring deep calm to body, mind, and soul.

Made only from the purest natural ingredients, Spa Ceylon products are enriched with potent Ayurvedic herbs, certified organic essential oils, precious natural minerals, virgin coconut oil, rich ocean salts, and the finest spices of Ceylon.

True to the island's heritage, the signature Spa Ceylon packaging weaves together the emblems of Ceylon's ancient royal family, traditional motifs, ancient scripts, and jewel-toned colours in a thoroughly modern design.

Built on a family tradition of crafting Ayurvedic products spanning over 50 years, Spa Ceylon was founded in 2009 by brothers Shiwantha Dias and Shalin Balasuriya. The brand swiftly established itself as the world's largest luxury Ayurveda chain, with a retail network of over 100 locations across 29 countries. Embodying core family values of care for people and the environment, Spa Ceylon is deeply committed to giving back to its home island — through Fair Trade practices, sustainable ingredient harvesting, wildlife conservation, cruelty-free production, the protection of human rights, and environmental stewardship.

Ancient Science

Ayurveda on Ceylon

Ayurveda is widely regarded as the world's oldest healing art. The word itself derives from Sanskrit: ayus — life, and veda — knowledge or science. Rather than treating symptoms, Ayurveda takes a holistic approach, addressing the root cause of imbalance in body and mind.

Ayurvedic practice is guided by the three fundamental energies — or doshas — present in every individual: Vata, Pitta, and Kapha, each appearing in a unique ratio that defines a person's constitution and wellbeing.

Ayurveda seeks to enhance the overall wellbeing of each individual and to eliminate toxins from the body — with proven results even in chronic conditions, and without any side effects. The royal families of ancient Ceylon cherished Ayurveda not only for its healing properties, but as the foundation of their beauty rituals and the secret to enduring radiance.

In today's fast-paced world, Ayurveda offers people across the globe answers to questions long left unanswered — the same wisdom that queens and kings of ancient Ceylon held for thousands of years: that through the gifts of Ayurveda, it is truly possible to restore balance, find inner peace, and bring calm to body, mind, and soul.

Our Promise

The principles behind every Spa Ceylon product

Spa Ceylon holds a deep love and commitment to the wellbeing of communities, the earth, the planet, and all living beings. We have embedded this commitment into every stage of our business — above all, in the way we formulate our products.

Paraben-Free

Parabens are commonly used as preservatives and appear in everything from sunscreen to toothpaste. Research suggests they may contribute to serious medical conditions. At Spa Ceylon, we have chosen to eliminate them entirely.

Paraffin-Free

Paraffin serves as a lubricant and emulsifier and as such forms the basis of many skin care creams. However, the most important thing is that paraffin is actually obtained from the process of refining petroleum. In fact, paraffin wax is the final by-product in the chain. We at Spa Ceylon have decided to completely avoid the use of paraffin in our products.

Alcohol-Free

Alcohol is used by many skincare brands in their products, from facial cleansers to moisturizers. Including ethanol and isopropanol, primarily because of their effectiveness as preservatives and solvents. Their harmful effects, such as drying, prevent other ingredients from penetrating the skin. With our products, you can be sure that you will not experience any of these side effects.

We promote sustainable harvesting and support Fair Trade.

Sustainable harvesting is a form of agriculture that uses resources in a way that prevents their extinction or permanent damage. Fair Trade means that we help develop sustainable businesses that have a positive impact on the local community. It also means that any product obtained from such farms is fairly paid. Our Aloe Vera project in Kalpitiya is a great example of Fair Trade in action.

Cruetly-Free

Spa Ceylon has never and will never test its products on animals. We believe that animals belong in the wild, not in a laboratory. There are no animal by-products in our products. Everything we use is 100% cruelty-free and natural.

“We believe in the healing power of nature. In beauty that comes without compromise. In luxury that leaves the world a little better than we found it. ”
